2012 was the year St Barnabas Ladies Gaelic Football Club proved they were the team to fear on the pitch throughout Warwickshire. The initial months of intense training paid off in abundance when the ‘Barnababes’ raced ahead to bring 2 County titles back to Nottingham. The team won the Warwickshire League and Championship double and even went on to make the semi final of the Provincial Plate. All achieved in the ‘Barnababes’ second year! Begging the question of what will 2013 bring to the successful St Barnabas Ladies team? St Barnabas Gaelic Athletic Club also consists of 2 men’s teams and a Hurling team. The men’s Reserve team seized success by winning the League in 2012. Whereas the hurlers ensured they made a strong impression by reaching the semi final of the Championship in their inaugural year. St Barnabas Gaelic Athletic Club organises fantastic social events throughout the year from Quiz nights and Golf Days to a prestigious annual Dinner Dance at Colwick Hall and the much anticipated ‘Barnabas’s Got Talent’ night. Watch out on the website for all the details and come join the party! Barnabas are always looking for new players and supporters; welcoming a wide range of ages and abilities to the club. Artist Kerry O'Brien worked with children and their families during an after-school art club and a class workshop to design and make their own costumes, processional props and banner. The results were a feast for the eyes and a riot of colour. The Stanhope 'Bee' mascots were seen on parade from the Forest Recreation Ground and down Mansfield Road. They flew through a field of rainbow coloured shamrocks, kites, leprechauns and fairies with the sun shining all around. A fantastic day was had by one and all and the school received a warm welcome when entering the Old Market Square to a crowd of thousands! Financial support was given from Gedling Borough Council and Wheldon and Gedling Extended Services. See larger images in the gallery. |

From February 1st to March 17th of this year they are holding a photography competition.
